PENNSYLVANIA COMPENSATION RATING BUREAU

REPORTED CLAIM COUNTS AND INCURRED LOSSES BY ACCIDENT DESCRIPTION

The Bureau has produced tabulations of the claims incurred under commercial workers compensation insurance policies during selected recent Policy Years in Pennsylvania.

These tabulations provide reported claim counts and incurred loss amounts grouped and sorted using the accident description codes applicable to reporting statistical data to the Pennsylvania Compensation Rating Bureau. These accident description codes are: Part of Body, Nature of Injury and Cause of Accident.

To illustrate the available statistical detail provided by these tabulations separate listings are provided below of the ten (10) accident descriptions which have the most reported claims and the largest amounts of reported incurred losses respectively for policy years 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Loss amounts are as reported on a case basis to the Pennsylvania Compensation Rating Bureau, valued as of 18 months following policy inception date.

The complete tabulations in Pennsylvania contain approximately 13,000 accident description entries representing over 236,000 reported accidents. If you have an interest in specific accident descriptions other than those provided by the sample listings below, or if you would like to access complete tabulations for analytical purposes please contact Bonnie Piacentino at Extension 4456.
